Middle School Orchestra
Middle School Orchestra is considered one of the student's exploratory (elective) subjects at their school. Students meet each day for approximately 45 minutes. Some of the middle schools have after school ensemble programs and/or weekly help sessions. Students perfect and add to the skills begun in the fifth grade. The orchestra students perform at the Masquerade Ball in October, at their school's Winter and Spring Concerts, and in the District's "String Fling". Other performances may include Memorial Day, Installation of Beta Club students, Santa Workshops, and others. In addition to concerts, sixth graders attend a one day workshop at Dorman and the seventh and eighth graders participate in the SC Orchestra Performance Assessment and other Festivals determined by each director. All of the students are encouraged to perform solos or small ensembles at the SC Solo and Ensemble Festival held in the spring. Middle School is a time of fast progress and fun. Musicians are encouraged to practice hard and get involved!
